SUMMARY:Global Ecology
DESCRIPTION:The course aims to introduce concepts\, theories and tools for understanding and analyzing global biodiversity data\, impacts of global change\, and conservation practices\, with Chinese context. \nThe learning objectives of the course are multifold\, including: (1) gaining appreciation of the global biodiversity and multiple roles in supporting living systems\, particularly in a country of 1/5 of the world population; (2) sharpening critical thinking skills required for understanding problems as complex as global change and biodiversity loss and the ability of thinking locals problems in the global context; (3) learning models and tools for analyzing biodiversity change and identifying the natural\, anthropogenic\, cultural and policy factors that drive the change; and (4) gaining hands-on experiences about local efforts in conservation of natural habitats and restoration of degraded coastal systems. \nProgram Specific Eligibility Requirements\nOpen to students of all backgrounds. \nSee the How to Apply page for general CLIC eligibility criteria. \nApplication Procedure\nApply with your Canadian home university to receive your travel grant. \nComplete an application with the China Scholarship Council. \nComplete an online registration form with CLIC: https://clic-horizons.symplicity.com. \nComplete an registration form with the Chinese host university and send it to Jessie Zhang (lzhang@ied.ecnu.edu.cn). \nApplication Deadlines\nTravel grant deadlines vary for Canadian universities.
