SUMMARY:Summer Law
DESCRIPTION:China is undoubtedly one of the most influential countries in the world. Heir to a long legal tradition\, China continues to reform its laws\, legal system\, and institutions\, including the judiciary\, to meet the demands posed by the World Trade Organization. If you are pursuing a legal career and have an interest in international business law\, it’s crucial to understand the main elements of the Chinese legal system. \nThe summer program in law is organized by University of Montréal’s Faculty of Law in collaboration with the China University of Political Science and Law. The program was established in 2002\, and is intended to meet the needs of Quebec\, Canadian\, and international lawyers who are interested in China. You’ll receive basic training in the Chinese judicial system as well as participate in a cultural tourism component that allows you to experience China first hand. \nA one-month internship (2-4 positions available) at the Guangdong International Business Law Firm will be available at the end of the summer program. This internship will not be for credit\, though it will provide invaluable work experience and insight into real-world Chinese legal practices. \nNote: This program includes costs that exceed the expenses covered by CLIC. Students must pay about $1750. \nProgram Specific Eligibility Requirements\nOpen to students from all CLIC member universities who are enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in law that have completed at least 30 credits of their degree at the time of enrollment in this program. \nSee the How to Apply page for general CLIC eligibility criteria. \nApplication Procedure\nApply to the University of Montreal.
