The Summer Research Internship Program attracts students from all over the world to learn in state-of-the-art facilities from prominent research professors. Your studies begin with Early Chinese Civilization\, examining the discoveries in the Yellow River and Yangtze River and the origins of Chinese diet and agriculture. By studying China in the context of ancient East Asia\, you’ll learn about the shift from Shang Dynasty to Zhou Dynasty\, and the politics and cultures of the powerful Qin\, Han and Tang Dynasties. Also discussed is the political significance of bronze\, and the communication between east and west on the famous Silk Road. \nThis program provides learning opportunities both inside and outside of the university. With China as a major economic power\, professionals who can manage labour relations from a Chinese perspective have a skill that’s in high demand! \nEnhance this skill set abroad at the School of Labour and Human Resources\, which is a program within the Renmin University of China International Summer School (ISS). This two-week program is tailored to studies in human resources\, labor relations\, management\, economics\, sociology and politics. \nRenmin University is a premiere Chinese institution that welcomes hundreds of international students each year. In the ISS program you’ll learn about the successful management of work environments that are complex and always evolving. You’ll also discover more about what motivates and influences employee behaviour\, and how to work with employers to create a productive and fair relationship. \nStudents can expect a diverse learning experience\, where classroom lectures are complemented by attending conferences that discuss the social and economic issues China is currently facing. DESCRIPTION:The benefits of cultural immersion are invaluable when studying anthropology: it’s an unparalleled way to experience the principles of your field first-hand. Nankai University’s Social Anthropology summer program will introduce you to field research methods while offering a rich and rewarding experience in China. \nThis 4-week course is an introduction to the basic techniques and skills of collecting field data in cultural anthropology. Topics include the history of anthropological research methods\, proposal writing\, preparations for fieldwork\, ethnographic research techniques\, and the ethics of fieldwork. The research skills developed through this program are applicable to many fields; students will come out with keen ability to observe human behaviour and identify social problems – and have the tools to document them. \nStudents will also have the chance to combine their classroom studies with various cultural activities offered as part of the program. You’ll explore the exciting seaport city of Tianjin\, from its ancient Ming and Qing dynasty buildings to the modern Tianjin Eye bridge. These encounters with a new culture and language will help you build an informed perspective on anthropology. \nNote: This program has a minimum number of students to run. DESCRIPTION:China is undoubtedly one of the most influential countries in the world. Heir to a long legal tradition\, China continues to reform its laws\, legal system\, and institutions\, including the judiciary\, to meet the demands posed by the World Trade Organization. If you are pursuing a legal career and have an interest in international business law\, it’s crucial to understand the main elements of the Chinese legal system. \nThe summer program in law is organized by University of Montréal’s Faculty of Law in collaboration with the China University of Political Science and Law. The program was established in 2002\, and is intended to meet the needs of Quebec\, Canadian\, and international lawyers who are interested in China. You’ll receive basic training in the Chinese judicial system as well as participate in a cultural tourism component that allows you to experience China first hand. \nA one-month internship (2-4 positions available) at the Guangdong International Business Law Firm will be available at the end of the summer program. This internship will not be for credit\, though it will provide invaluable work experience and insight into real-world Chinese legal practices. \nNote: This program includes costs that exceed the expenses covered by CLIC.
