This four-week intensive program in Hangzhou delivers practical business education and experience as you learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur in China. Come prepared for a multi-faceted learning experience; classroom lectures are enriched by field trips to local companies and immersive cultural experiences including calligraphy and Taiji.

Your program begins with a profile of the Chinese marketplace. You’ll examine the key players entrepreneurs encounter, including state and foreign firms, and the diverse business environments that exist in China. Throughout the program you’ll look at case studies of major Chinese companies such as Alibaba, Wahaha, and Xiaomi, as well as local Hangzhou businesses.

A session on marketing will cover Chinese consumer behavior, marketing mix, internet marketing, and crowdfunding. The financial and management courses will look at issues critical to startups, including the cross-cultural challenges that a global start-up must address. Also covered in-depth is China’s intellectual property system and the patenting activities of multinational corporations.

A key component and advantage of this program is its thorough exploration of China’s unique business culture. Understanding the behaviours and methodology of Chinese business people is critical to conducting business successfully in China.
